I have been living and painting in Santa Barbara for the past 20 years. Throughout this time I have done studies of a variety of forms from trees to water. Organic forms and studies of botanic life are prevalent in my most recent work. I am exploring the different compositions of simple plants as well as the more intricate patterns of plant life up close and under a microscope. These organic patterns are diverse and beautiful. The connection between all forms of life is apparent on the microscopic level and the repetition of color and form is very intriguing to me. I paint with oil and graphite on wood panels so I can scratch, sand, and layer the surface multiple times. The end result is a painting that is richly layered and becomes more and more interesting the closer you become.
